Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse

Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse

Narcissus and Goldmund is magnum opus of Herman Hesse.A pungent read for both intellectual and non-intellectual readers. Full of metaphors, every word and character is symbolic in one way or the other. It represents the inner struggle of every human being, “To be or not to be”. Questioning all the ideals and approaches of life, it moves you from the core of your heart.

Reading it is like moving on a self journey, finding yourself. Illustrating the available choices of how to live your life through characters, Hermann Hesse explores the reality of consequences of the choices we make. Whether to live according to what your heart says or mind. Apparently, it’s a story of two characters but at a deeper level it represents the conflict of inner self. Besides, it is intriguing and a pleasure to read.
